Essential Oils Boost Health
The end of summer is near and if you’re like me, you’re clinging to every last sunny, golden day, wishing you could have just one more month of this glorious Monadnock region summer.
Knowing the wisdom of yoga and being a curator of wellness, I followed my own advice and launched into a season of self-care, which has meant getting myself back to more time outside.
Ayurveda, the sister science of yoga, includes time in nature and creative projects prescribed as part of a wellness protocol specific to one’s imbalances needing correction. Spending time in nature is recommended for one to absorb the “prana” (life force or energy) of the earth.

Inside Essential Oils
The internal use of essential oils is a hot debate these days. Some medical and wellness experts would not recommend they be ingested. The industry remains unregulated, meaning there is a significant difference in quality and purity of oils on the market. We can look to the research of the French model on essential oils and internal use to corroborate the safety of ingesting essential oils for wellness benefits. However, it is important to note that the correct dosage must be administered.
This information is not intended as medical advice, nor is it meant to imply a cure for any disease or medical condition. I share this information based on my personal and professional wellness experience, practices and the positive benefits noticed with using essential oils as described.
take care of yourself
take care of yourself . . . Wide open right? Maybe your mother’s wisdom included eating well, or exercising. Maybe she wanted you to get outside and push yourself. Maybe she was telling you to be kind to you. The definition shifts like sand under your feet, meaningful fragments that offer collectively solid support. Together, all these little particles of maternal wisdom invite you to stand on a mountain of health, self-care and well-being. I stood on a mountain top last week with Michelle Davis during a virtual yoga session and it was transformative, lovely and inspiring.

Ancient Meditation
Yoga is an ancient system of meditation. It’s easy to find ways to incorporate yoga into one’s daily schedule with a bit of creativity and a willingness to stretch outside the box (pun intended). And you can do it all while enjoying sunny summer days.
If you’re looking to start a simple stretching routine, or if you’d like to improve your strength, flexibility and balance and reduce stress, you’ll find stress literally melts away when you find that yoga bliss, if even for a little snippet of time in your day. Even just five minutes a day can offer benefits. Sure, the longer you practice, the better the benefits. Consistency, however, is key.
